George Sous, Boys & Girls Club of Morris County
Boys
& Girls Clubs in New Jersey are fortunate to have George Sous as
volunteer and advocate. As Regional Public Affairs Manager for
PSE&G, George understands the challenge community organizations
have in engaging committed volunteer leadership and has stepped up to
the plate "big time" not only in his home community in Pequannock but
in organizations throughout the state.
George has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Morris
County's Board of Directors since 1996, shortly after its
incorporation. As part of a new Club, George took the challenge of
expanding and diversifying the organization's board as he headed up the
Board Development Committee and played an integral role in the Club's
development both organizationally and financially. He and his wife
Janet have served on the Annual Fundraising Gala Committee since it's
inception in 2000 and he has been active with all fundraising
activities including the Golf outing and corporate sponsorships.
George has been a member of the Club's Executive Committee since
joining the Board first as Secretary and most recently the Board
President. In addition, each of his three children- Alyson, Justin and
Janelle- have been members of the Club. In fact, Janelle was selected
to perform at Boys & Girls Clubs of America's National Conference
closing dinner in San Diego several years ago.
More recently, George has expanded his involvement with Boys &
Girls Clubs by serving as the Vice Chairman of the New Jersey Area
Council where he heads up the Resource Development Committee and serves
on the Concert For Kids Committee. In addition, he was recently elected
to serve on the NJ Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs Board, a 501(c) 4
which was established to receive state funds to support Club programs.
George's commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs has always gone beyond
his home community. In 1998 he was recognized by the Boys & Girls
Club of Paterson as their "Man of the Year" and has provided financial
support to various Clubs in Passaic and Essex Counties in his role with
PSE&G.
He also serves on the boards of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and Somerset County Business Partnership.
George is a 27-year veteran with PSE&G, a graduate of Montclair State University and a long-suffering Knicks fan.
